Another country I had the chance to spend some time in is Great Britain. To make this article a bit more interesting I decided to write it in English. I’m sure you will all understand it perfectly, as my English isn’t at a very advanced level.
I must say that I met people of many different nationalities in my life. Living in London gives you a unique opportunity for that. But the English people occurred to me much of a phenomenon. You all heard of the English politeness. It’s a beautiful thing, because they are always attentive to look after others, to help them, to serve them. I have always been touched by their attentiveness to my needs and, especially, by their service at the table. Unfortunately, after a while spent in their company one realizes that this is just an outer appearance. The English people hide themselves behind this wall of kindness and make it very difficult for anyone to get to know them as they really are. One needs quite a lot of time to get to know an English person well. So at the first look they seem very open and friendly, but in fact they are very closed and do not really welcome foreigners. They are people that hide well their emotions and have a very pleasant way of speaking with the others, that’s why there have been so many fantastic diplomats among them.
When you go to Great Britain be prepared that, apart from English, which most of you know well, you also have to come to grips with another language within the English language. Just to help you understand what I mean by that I put below this little taste of “Englishness”:
Like every nation the English people have their defects and beauty. Definitely, one of the most beautiful values of that nation is their politeness and enormous sensitivity in seeing the needs of others. This is something we should learn from them, because Polish people are generally quite rude and tough. I don’t mean that we have to become hypocrites, as many English are, but that we could work on our good manners and in this way to show love to the others around us.
